Daegu, the third largest city in Korea, is surrounded by the Nakdong River and Geumho River, and ‘Sincheon’ runs through the center of Daegu.

‘Gangjeongbo (Dam)’, where the Geumho River, which joins Sincheon in Buk-gu, Daegu, joins the Nakdong River, the third longest river in Korea, is well known as the center of leisure sports in the Daegu area, with many tourist facilities and numerous bicycle rental shops.

Within a 10km radius of ‘Gangjeongbo’, there are well-maintained leisure sports facilities such as bicycle paths, walking trails, and a park golf course along three beautiful and clean water streams, which are frequently used by citizens and foreign tourists.

One clear October day, on the Geumho River bike path, I met a young German man who couldn't ride his bike due to a puncture on his bike and was dragging his bike, sweating profusely, but I happened to solve the situation with the portable pump I carried.

Tips for renting a bike

1. Pay for the time you spend riding your bike.
2. Check the air pressure of the rented bicycle.
3. Find out the phone number of the rental house in case of a breakdown, such as a tire puncture.

What to do in case of a tire puncture

1. Find out if there is an air injection facility nearby.
2. Ask a passing biker for help.
3. If items 1 and 2 above do not apply, call the bicycle rental shop.
4. If items 1, 2, and 3 above do not apply, take pictures of the broken part.
5. Take your bicycle to a place where there is a bicycle tire air pump facility.
6. Report the breakdown to the bicycle rental shop and receive appropriate compensation.

How to use an air pump

1. Open the tube valve cap by turning it counterclockwise.
2. Check the valve type.
3. Insert the nozzle of the injector that matches the valve type.
4. For the ‘Presta’ type, the air block must be released by turning the screw.
5. Press the power switch on the injection device.
